Nick Cooling
AttorneyNick was born and raised in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from University of Iowa’s Tippie College of Business before going on to earn his Juris Doctorate Degree from Drake Law School and he has been involved in private practice ever since.
Prior to joining Mueller, Schmidt, Mulholland & Cooling where he works exclusively with injured people, Nick spent almost eight years at a law firm where he litigated cases for large insurance carriers and third-party administrators across the country. Nick has handled workers’ compensation, insurance defense and commercial litigation claims, including over five years as workers’ compensation counsel for the largest employer in the United States.
Nick has experience handling cases from start to finish including investigation, negotiations, trial preparation, mediations, and appeals. He has worked with many different types of client from large corporations to individual plaintiffs, but believes he has found his true calling as an advocate for individuals who have been injured or mistreated by an employer or insurance carrier. Given his background in defense work, Nick can provide a unique perspective into his client’s cases and provide valuable information as it relates to the strategy and exposure of Defendants. Nick also prides himself on his availability and responsiveness to his clients, creating an experience that is unmatched among his colleagues in the industry.
Outside of the office Nick enjoys spending time with his wife, Cassie and identical twin boys, Miller and Hayes. He enjoys skiing, hiking, golfing and coaching little league and soccer.
